MendenFreiman Names New Partner and Adds New Attorney to Firm
ATLANTA (March 2, 2020) MendenFreiman LLP, a leading Atlanta-based business law, tax controversy and planning, estate planning, probate and trust administration firm, is happy to announce that Jeffrey (Jeff) J. Meek has been named a partner. The firm also welcomes the addition of attorney Kristen M. Nugent to its Atlanta office. With its recent growth, MendenFreiman augments its position as one of the largest boutique law firms (within its practice areas) in the greater Atlanta market.
Jeffrey J. (Jeff) Meek joined the firm in 2015 and provides comprehensive legal counsel on business, tax, and estate planning matters to high-net-worth individuals and families, as well as privately held businesses. He also represents businesses and business owners with the design and implementation of comprehensive business plans that integrate succession, tax-minimization, and asset-protection techniques. Jeff applies his knowledge and expertise to develop customized strategies that help clients achieve their long-term business, financial and estate planning objectives. Prior to joining MendenFreiman, he was with Sanders Legal Group LLC.
Jeff received his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law and his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia and North Carolina and has received the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating – AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5.
Kristen M. Nugent has joined the firm as an associate attorney in its business law and tax planning practice areas. She will provide legal counsel to small and medium-sized businesses on a variety of corporate and transactional matters, including business and corporate representation, entity structuring, incentive plans, licensing agreements, employment law and related agreements, trademark and copyright clearance and related registration. In addition, she brings extensive experience with employee benefit plans, including plan compliance and corrections; mergers and acquisitions; nonprofit organizations; taxable and tax-exempt financing structures (including lease-purchase agreements, credit-enhanced transactions, and public/private partnerships); and international corporate and tax law issues.
Kristen received her undergraduate degree in political science, summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, and her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.
“With Jeff’s ability to quickly assess situations and implement a strategy to advance our clients’ interests, it was a natural transition to make him a partner of the firm,” said Larry Freiman, Managing Partner. “Kristen is an outstanding addition to the firm and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our group. We are more than excited to welcome her to MendenFreiman.”
